May's Bandcamp Friday

Bandcamp Friday was May second. I like to save music to my Bandcamp wishlist and then make a big selection for purchase every Bandcamp Friday. Here's what I bought this time.

Some nice post-punk black metal from Amsterdam. Heavy, thick, goth-tinged.

Quote, fom the album's Bandcamp page:

Coil's unreleased soundtrack for the VHS only, pre-internet, sexual education documentary entitled "The Gay Man's Guide To Safer Sex" released in 1992.

Even if I didn't enjoy it's ambient rave-vibe I'd have bought it for the oddity alone.

Oh my god, the nostalgia. I couldn't believe this was on Bandcamp.

All I can say is "wow". Very good disco funk.

Darkwave, trip-hop tinged. From the album's Bandcamp page:

An eclectic mix of thirteen electronic/experimental/ambient artists have joined together to donate tracks for this compilation with 100% of the funds (after Bandcamp’s fee) going to Reproductive Freedom for All, a 4 star non-profit 501(c)(4) organization in the United States that engages in lobbying, political action, and advocacy efforts to oppose restrictions on abortion, to expand access to legal abortion and birth control, and to support paid parental leave and protection against pregnancy discrimination. I stumbled on The Aislers Set's indie pop back in the heyday of MP3 blogs. Another nostalgic purchase.

A (very good) Mapuche death metal band.

Recommended by a co-worker. Toronto punk-rock.

Messa's latest. A delicious course of doom metal.

I don't remember where I stumbled on this. I very much enjoy folk/blues field recordings and Bessie Jones does not disappoint.
