August's Bandcamp Friday
Bandcamp Friday was August second. I like to save music to my Bandcamp wishlist and then make a big selection for purchase every Bandcamp Friday. Here's what I bought this time.
The world was utterly robbed when Q Lazzarus was not given the opportunity to become an established multi-album artist.
Neilson's wailing New Zealand country is both shockingly refreshing and achingly reminiscent of an earlier era for the genre.
Reatard left us too soon. When this came up in my Bandcamp feed I had to buy it. (Blood Visions I grabbed a long while ago.)
Bandcamp is appealing to me for various reasons. One of them is certainly a spectacular diversity of genre. Take Takeshi Terauchi's particular flavor of eleki. Psych pop, surf rock? The genre is so potent a blend of something familiar but also distinctly unique.
Esy Tadesse's delicate yet strident jazz-tinged guitar is a refreshingly beautiful experience.
I stumbled on Ivy in the 90's and always loved their down-tempo pop.
Messa's latest does not disappoint.
I was utterly stunned after discovering The Neptune Power Federation. I feel they are very reminiscent of a kind of frantic Blue Oyster Cult.
This was my first introduction to Starset's particularly wonderful screamo-esque sound, I also grabbed Horizon at the same time.
Super Van Vacation is a gritty crunchy classic.
I can't tell if I love this album because it's excellent or because of nostalgia.
