about

Hello, my name is Joshua Walker. I build the things that power the web.

I am a web/software developer, 1X engineer, computist, futurist, humanist, colony of myxomycetes, descended from immigrants, descended from farmers, divine hag of the ashes, sophisticated shut-in, sentionaut, goth duck, motivated by spite, meat doughnut, maybe a member of the Antimemetics Division (though infested with memetic parasites), majestic sea lion, normcore illusion, reverse vampire, dark optimist advanced ape, driven insane by knowledge of the universe, living on a minor planet orbiting an average star, trying to be one with my inner opossum, and working in the city of Ann Arbor, Michigan. In my spare time I like tinkering with bits of code, being a grump, and saving the earth in many banal and unspecified ways. This site is a repository of ideas and short essays on web development, technology, and general insights into digital environments and their culture. My favorite SCP is SCP-529.

You can see what I’m bookmarking on Pinboard or what I’m capturing on Are.na. If you’re the paranoid type you can find me on Keybase. Remember, your bones are wet.

The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect, but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity. The creative mind plays with the objects it loves.
